Big Island Sightseeing Tours

Big Island sightseeing tours make it easier to cover Hawaii Island's long distances in one guided day. Explore volcano country, Hamakua waterfalls, Waipio Valley views, coffee farms, Maunakea and Hilo while someone else handles the road.

About this experience

See How Much the Big Island Can Change in a Single Day

Sightseeing on the Big Island is less about one famous stop and more about seeing how quickly the scenery changes as you move across the island. You can leave the dry Kona side behind, pass coffee country and open lava fields, reach black-sand coastline, and end up surrounded by rainforest, waterfalls, or volcanic terrain.

Some tours are built around Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, with stops that may include Kilauea Iki Crater, lava tubes, steam bluffs, and other volcanic landscapes. Others head toward Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, Akaka Falls, the Hamakua Coast, Waipio Valley Lookout, historic Kona, or local coffee farms. Maunakea tours take the day in a completely different direction, trading waterfalls and coastlines for high-elevation sunset and stargazing.

If you want to see a broad mix of the island, a longer circle-island or volcano tour gives you the most variety. If you would rather keep the day lighter, you can focus on one region, such as Hilo’s waterfalls and rainforest scenery or Kona’s historic sites and coffee country.

The Big Island rewards curiosity, so choose the route that shows you the side of the island you are most excited to understand better.
