Oahu Shark Encounters

Oahu shark encounters leave Haleiwa for deep North Shore water, where Galapagos, sandbar and other shark species may appear. Choose a cage experience or guided cageless pelagic snorkel.

About this experience

Head Offshore for an Oahu Shark Encounter

A shark tour from Haleiwa takes you away from the beaches and into the deep blue water off Oahu’s North Shore. As the coastline gets smaller behind the boat, the experience starts to feel very different from a typical snorkel trip. This is about seeing sharks where they naturally live, not in an aquarium or enclosed attraction.

You can choose between two very different styles of experience. Cage tours use a secure floating cage with large viewing openings, so you can stay near the surface with a mask and snorkel while the sharks move through the water around you. Cageless tours are designed for confident swimmers and take place in open water with trained safety divers nearby.

If you are unsure which one feels right, start with your comfort level in deep water. The cage gives you a clear boundary and can feel more reassuring, while the cageless option is much more direct and open.

Before booking, check the current age requirements, swimming expectations, ride-along rules, included snorkel gear, and safety briefing details. The North Shore can also be lively on the water, so if you are prone to seasickness, plan for that before you head out.
