See Kauai from a Whole New Angle

From the air, Kauai makes a lot more sense. You can see how the deep valleys, high ridges, waterfalls, and coastline all fit together in a way that is impossible to grasp from the road. Much of the island is rugged and remote, so an airplane tour gives you access to views that would otherwise stay completely out of reach.

Flights from Lihue may take you over Waimea Canyon, the Na Pali Coast, Kipu Kai, Hanapepe Valley, and the waterfall country around Mt. Waialeale. When weather cooperates, you may also pass the well-known waterfall featured in Jurassic Park. The scenery changes quickly, and that is part of the fun—you can go from red canyon walls to green valleys and dramatic sea cliffs in the same flight.

Wings Over Kauai and Air Ventures Hawaii both offer sightseeing flights, but the experience feels a little different depending on the aircraft. Air Ventures flies a GA-8 Airvan with large windows and no middle seats, while Wings Over Kauai offers shared Grand Deluxe flights as well as private Cessna tours.

If photos matter to you, pay attention to the window setup and seating. If you want a quieter experience with just your group, a private flight may be worth the upgrade.
