Parasailing gives you a surprisingly peaceful view of Oahu once the boat noise fades and you are floating above the ocean. Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head, and the Honolulu shoreline stretch out below you, and for a few minutes the city feels much farther away than it really is.

The ride begins from a specially equipped boat, and most flights are done with two or more people together depending on weight, wind, and the operator’s rules. Some tours offer different line lengths, which can change how high you fly and how long you stay in the air.

If you are a little nervous, the takeoff is usually the part that gets the most attention, but the flight itself often feels much calmer than expected. You rise gradually from the boat, settle into the harness, and get a wide-open view before being reeled back in.
