Hike Maui – Haleakala Crater Hike

Explore Haleakala on foot at two different elevations, where the landscape changes from a wide volcanic summit to an older lava trail surrounded by rare alpine plants. The first hike begins near the 10,000-foot rim, with about two miles across cinder terrain and broad views into the crater.

From there, the tour continues to the 8,000-foot level for another two-mile hike along an ancient lava flow. Here, silversword and other high-elevation plants grow among the volcanic rock while your naturalist guide explains the geology, native ecology and cultural stories connected to Haleakala.
