About Kaula Luau
Oceanfront Ko Olina luau with cultural activities, buffet dinner, story-driven Polynesian show, acrobatics and fire-knife dancing.
Ko Olina's oceanfront lawn becomes the setting for an evening where sunset, storytelling and tradition come together under the stars. Kaula Luau blends a Hawaiian feast with an immersive theatrical production that follows one continuous story, carrying guests across oceans, generations and family history.
At the heart of the show is the bond between a kupuna (grandmother) and her granddaughter as they uncover their genealogy and the cultural connections linking Hawaii, Tahiti and Samoa. Hawaiian, Tahitian and Samoan music and dance flow through the story with mele (song), oli (chant), hula, powerful drumming, acrobatics and an exciting fire-knife performance.
The name "Kaula" means the binding cord, the unseen connection to ancestors, stories and the places we call home. Produced by the Hawaiian Council, the evening is rooted in Native Hawaiian storytelling and includes interactive cultural activities and friendly competitions that invite guests to become part of the experience.
