About Kona Town Surf - Surfing Lessons
Feel the first push of a wave beneath your board with guidance from Kona Town Surf, one of the Big Island's highest rated surf lesson providers. Their local team of lifeguard and CPR certified instructors brings patience, ocean knowledge and a genuine love of surfing to every lesson.
Each lesson lasts 1.5 hours and begins with a conversation about your experience, followed by instruction in surfing basics and ocean safety. Choose the lesson style that fits you best, whether you want to learn with a group, share a private experience with family or friends, or receive one-on-one attention from your instructor.
Group Lessons
Perfect for friends, family and first timers in a group setting.
- 4 students per instructor
- Minimum of 10 years or older
- Minimum 2 people per booking with a maximum of 12 people
Semi-Private Lessons
Designed for family and friends who want to do surf lessons together but without other people joining in.
- 2-3 students per instructor
- Minimum of 10 years or older
- Minimum 2 people per booking
Private Lessons
These are perfect for those who want a more advanced lesson and complete individualized attention. Private lessons are also recommended for those wanting to work on their skills or who are hesitant beginners.

7:00 am, 8:45 am, 10:30 am, 12:15 pm, 2:00 pm & 3:45 pm
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your selected lesson time.
Check in at the Kahalu'u Beach Park. Look for the Mercedes Sprinter van located on the north end of the beach.

Usual check in is at Kahalu'u Beach Park unless otherwise noted by Kona Town Surf Adventures. Kona Town Surf holds permits at 3 surfing locations so they may call you to adjust your check in location if the surf is better at one of the other 2 locations.
Alternate locations only used if Kona Town Surf contacts you:
The end of Ala Nui Kaloko Rd. It goes through Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park.

Restrictions
All guests must know how to swim.
Children under the age of 10 (and usually not younger than 5) are REQUIRED to be in a private lesson rather than a group or semi private due to safety.
Special Notes
Please use reef safe sunscreen, it helps to preserve the coral reefs of Hawaii for future generations.
