Germaine's Luau has welcomed guests in Kapolei since 1976, with a beachfront West Oahu setting, Hawaiian buffet dinner and Polynesian show on select evenings.
Germaine's Luau welcomes you to a stretch of sandy shoreline near Kapolei, where palm trees frame the sunset and tiki torches guide you from the entry gate to an open-air dining lawn. Founded in 1976 and still run by the same local family, the evening stays true to its "backyard style" promise: warm greetings at the shell-lei stand, casual seating at picnic tables and the sound of waves rolling in just beyond the stage lights.
The experience opens with the traditional imu ceremony. A conch shell sounds, the oven lid lifts and smoky kalua pig rises from an underground pit lined with hot lava rocks. Chefs carry the roast to the buffet, joining island favorites such as lomi-lomi salmon, teriyaki chicken, fresh-catch fillet, chow mein noodles, poi, tropical salads and haupia coconut squares for dessert. An open bar pours mai tais, Blue Hawaiis, domestic beer and soft drinks throughout the night.
After plates are filled and the sun fades, the spotlight shifts to a full Polynesian revue. Dancers trace the migration route of Pacific voyagers with graceful hula, fast Tahitian drums, Maori poi balls and the heart-pounding Samoan fire-knife finale that sends sparks into the starry sky. The hosts keep energy high between numbers with island humor, birthday shout-outs and chances for volunteers to try a hip shake on stage.
Seating is tiered into Standard, Plumeria and Alii levels. Upgrades bring perks like priority entrance, closer tables, souvenir tumblers and dedicated buffet lines, but every guest enjoys the same shoreline view, unlimited drinks and easy access to the photo spot under the leaning palm.
