About Island Watersports Hawaii - Submersible Scooter Tour
Ride a submersible scooter at Maunalua Bay with Island Watersports Hawaii, including a catamaran cruise, scooter ride, swim and snorkel time.
Discover Maunalua Bay from beneath the surface on a submersible scooter adventure that feels easier than scuba diving and more immersive than snorkeling. No previous diving experience is needed, making this a fun way to explore Oahu's underwater world for the first time.
The experience begins with a scenic ride aboard a 50-foot catamaran to the dive location. After a short orientation, your professional guide will help you settle into the scooter and lead you through tropical reef scenery filled with colorful fish, coral and the chance to see Hawaiian green sea turtles.
The scooters remain at a depth of 7-8 feet at all times, less than the deep end of a swimming pool. Each unit is connected by a line to a floating buoy, so the scooter cannot descend farther than the length of the line. After your scooter ride, enjoy more time for swimming, snorkeling and relaxing on the spacious sun deck.

Driving Directions:
From Waikiki, drive to the H-1 East Freeway. Once the freeway ends it becomes HI-72 (Kalanianaole Highway). Keep driving east until you arrive at the Koko Marina Shopping Center in Hawaii Kai. Turn left into the shopping center before the Texaco gas station. You may park free anywhere in the shopping center. The check-in office is behind Jamba Juice and adjacent to Kona Brewing Company restaurant.
Restrictions
Participants must be at least 4'0" (122 cm) in height, but less than 6'8" (203 cm) and have no medical conditions.
Weight limit: 350 lbs (158 kg)
Children must be at least 10 years old.
Special Notes
The underwater scooter works on the bell theory. Remember back in science class when you would turn a glass upside down in a bucket of water and no water would enter the glass? The scooter is based on the same concept. As you descend, a seal is formed so you are dry inside the bubble. It's amazing!
