About Hawaiian Watersports - Kiteboarding Lesson
Learn kitesurfing basics at Kailua Bay with Hawaiian Watersports, Oahu's official IKO kiteboarding center, during a 2-hour private intro lesson.
Spend a few hours on Kailua's turquoise bay learning one of the world's most exhilarating wind sports. As the only IKO-certified kiteboarding center on Oahu, Hawaiian Watersports pairs ideal trade-wind conditions with professional instruction. No prior experience is required—just basic swimming ability and an eagerness to try something new.
Your lesson begins with shoreline basics: understanding wind direction, safety systems and proper equipment setup. From there you'll practice controlled launching and landing, then wade into the warm shallows to pilot a modern four-line kite and master body-drag techniques. With these fundamentals in place you'll be ready for the next milestone—getting up on the board and riding across Kailua's famously clear water.
