Snorkel Maui with Pacific Whale Foundation on a Molokini and turtle adventure from Maalaea featuring reef snorkeling, marine-life narration and ocean views.
Venture beyond Maui's familiar snorkel spots on a small-group ocean safari designed for confident swimmers ready to explore deeper water and more remote reef areas. With a maximum of 30 passengers, the smaller vessel can reach places that many larger boats cannot, creating a more personal day on the water.
The itinerary changes with ocean conditions so the crew can choose the best snorkel locations off Maui's south shore and around Molokini. Weather permitting, the adventure may include a drift snorkel along the backside of Molokini Crater or in the open blue sea, where the water can reach depths of up to 300 feet.
The tour may also visit the recent lava flows near the Ahihi-Kinau Reserve or other top snorkel sites. These waters offer the chance to see Hawaiian green sea turtles, dolphins, sharks, rays and humpback whales during the winter season.

Unlimited ice-cold sodas, juices and filtered water are available throughout the day. Adults age 21+ may enjoy two complimentary alcoholic beverages after snorkeling (e.g. vodka, gin, rum, wine, tequila and beer crafted on island from Ocean Vodka and Maui Brewing Company).

Check-in at 7:00 am at the Pacific Whale Foundation's Ocean Store at the Maui Harbor Shops, which shares a parking lot with Maui Ocean Center, located at 192 Maalaea Rd, Wailuku (GPS address). View Map
Parking is paid throughout the harbor. Please review signage upon arrival.
Restrictions
Children must be at least 7 years old to participate.
As an intermediate to advanced snorkel adventure, this trip is not recommended for non-swimmers, pregnant women, people with heart conditions or anyone with neck, back or knee problems.
Use of any full-face snorkel masks are not allowed on Pacific Whale Foundation activities due to safety concerns.
REEF-SAFE SUNSCREEN GUIDELINES: This tour requires you to use reef-safe sunscreen in accordance with the statewide ban on sunscreens that harm the reefs. Please read the ingredients list of your sunscreen as "reef-safe" is not a regulated term and sunscreens listed as such can have the following banned ingredients in them: oxybenzone, octinoxate, avobenzone, avobenzine, homosalate, octisalate, octocrylene and ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate. Reef-Safe sunscreen can also be found in local stores or be purchased on board (4oz for $17, price is subject to change).
Wheelchairs: This vessel is NOT wheelchair accessible. Guests who can board (with or without assistance from someone in their group) may attend, but there is only outside seating and nowhere to store a wheelchair on board.
Our vessels are CASHLESS for purchases. Only credit, debit or digital payment methods with a QR code will be accepted for onboard purchases. Cash will graciously be accepted for gratuities only.

The Ocean Explorer is a modern 54 foot, smooth riding and eco-friendly catamaran. It features front stadium seating, a shaded galley and serving area, and freshwater showers and bathrooms. The Ocean Explorer is purposefully designed to offer a low-to-the-water perspective, so you'll feel fully immersed in the experience when watching wildlife or approaching the scenic lava formations of Maui.
