Pacific Whale Foundation – Sunset & Celestial Stargazing Cruise

Watch the colors fade over the South Maui coastline while learning how Polynesian voyagers once crossed the Pacific using the stars, ocean and natural signs as their guide. This evening cruise combines sunset views, appetizers and drinks with stories about traditional navigation and Hawaii's place in the wider Polynesian world.

Astronomy writer and speaker Harriet Witt joins the cruise to identify stars and explain their connections to Hawaiian culture and wayfinding. As the sky darkens, her commentary brings together astronomy, navigation and the stories passed down through generations.

During the winter season, the crew may also lower a hydrophone into the water so you can listen for humpback whale songs beneath the evening sky.
