About Kohala Waterfalls Adventure
Walk into North Kohala's green valleys with Hawaii Forest & Trail, where private trails lead past foot bridges, taro terraces, waterfalls and a picnic overlook.
Follow the green folds of North Kohala into a landscape of waterfalls, old plantation towns and sweeping valley views. The day begins with a scenic drive through Hawi and Kapa'au, home to the iconic King Kamehameha Statue, before leaving the main road for a private streamside reserve.
A relaxed one-mile walk leads across charming foot bridges and past historic taro terraces, clear pools and seven cascading waterfalls. Along the way, there is time to cool off with a swim beneath one of the falls and enjoy the quiet beauty of this lush corner of the Big Island.
After the trail, settle in for a picnic lunch at a secluded overlook with soaring views of Kohala's sea cliffs and deeply carved valleys. With its gentle pace, off-road scenery and refreshing swim stop, this adventure is a beautiful choice for families and guests of all ages.
