Featuring Hawaiian myth expressed through spellbinding illusion,
traditional hula and chant, Kaanapali Beach Hotel's Kupanaha:
Maui Magic for All Ages is a performance of knowledge, skill,
and fascination. The award-winning Kanoeau Dance Academy members
paired with Maui's Magical family, Jody and Kathleen Baran
and daughters, create a captivating tale that relates history,
explores myth, flirts with magic, and leaves the audience
spellbound. With hula that displays both ancient traditions
and the extreme playfulness of the hapa-haole style (Hawaiian
music with English words), let our cast take you far away
and into a world of amazement. Enjoy the journey!
The Kupanaha
show menu includes choice of scrumptious appetizer (Pig in
a Pareo Hawaiian style smoked pork egg rolls or Roasted Vegetable
Bruschetta), choice of mouth-watering entree (Island Fish
Sauteed in Mild Asian Soy Chili Butter Sauce, Roasted Chicken
Breast Stuffed with Wild Mushrooms and Herbs, Steak and Grilled
Jumbo Garlic Shrimp, or Grilled Tofu Marinated in Lime Cilantro),
and choice of delectable dessert (Pina Colada Pineapple Cheesecake
or Tropical Fruit Plate)!
The children's
menu includes an entree choice of Hamburger and Cheesy Fries,
Breaded Chicken Nuggets, or Spaghetti with Meat Sauce. Vanilla
ice cream complements their meal.
Nothing completes fantasy like excellent cuisine and exotic
drinks from the Lava Bar! Abracadabra hot lava turns into
bewitching concoctions like the Flashing Mojito, and you keep
the flashing ice cube! Hocus-pocus the Hawaiian pig, Kamapuaa,
is onstage one minute and your appetizer the next! Delight
in the savory pleasures of Kaanapali Beach Hotel's newest
dinner show, Kupanaha: Maui Magic for All Ages in the Kanahele
Room Theater.
The food
is no illusion. Enjoy a generous three-course meal presented
by white-gloved waitstaff. Start with Kaanapali Beach Hotel’s
signature appetizer, Pig in a Pareo, or relish in the Roasted
Vegetable Bruschetta. From Island Fresh Snapper and Roasted
Stuffed Chicken Breast to Steak & Shrimp and The Vegetarian,
delight in award winning entrees developed by Tom Fairbanks,
Director of Food & Beverage, and Executive Chef Thomas
Muromoto. In true Island style, the culinary team developed
a grand finale of sweet tropical desserts, the star of which
is Kaanapali Pineapple Cheesecake. And don’t forget
the kids (no doubt hoping to start with dessert)! Hamburger
& Cheesy Fries, Breaded Chicken Nuggets, Spaghetti with
Meat Sauce - their fancy is our wish. Poof!
The drinks
are real (good!). Appearing like marvels from the Hawaiian
cosmos, enjoy such drinks as the Magic Tiki Tai, a souvenir
Tiki mug filled with Mai Tai – Hawaii’s Signature
Tropical Cocktail. Set your taste buds in motion with a Tropical
Storm or Lava Flow. Perhaps something that glows in the dark?
Try a Flashing Mojito, the drink of wizards, a fresh blend
of Lime & Mint with Rum & Club Soda served with a
flashing ice cube that you take home! Kids enjoy Harry Potter
Smoothies, spellbinding non-alcoholic blends of delicious
flavors. Enjoy complimentary beer and wine, or indulge in
mystical shooters that will have you seeing stars!
Director
of Food & Beverage, Tom Fairbanks, states, “There
is no other dinner show in the Islands that offers such high
quality cuisine paired with the magical Hawaiian adventure
of Kupanaha: Maui Magic for All Ages. The overall experience
will be pure fantasy - the food is that good! Better than
any other island commercial attraction or cruise ship experience,
our venue is very intimate, seating only 240 guests, and we
use fresh fish and local Maui ingredients. Other attractions
offer pre-made food, but not Kupanaha: Maui Magic for All
Ages. Our cuisine is made fresh.”
Executive
Chef, Thomas Muromoto, agrees, “We’ve developed
an extravagant dinner for our guests, a real treat with plated
service and a delicious alternative to accommodate vegetarians.
Kupanaha: Maui Magic for All Ages is a great show, especially
for kids, and I’m proud to be a part of it. Tom and
I spent much time in advance preparing the menu, and we are
excited for the overall experience. Keiki and families will
have a blast, and I can’t wait to bring my own kids!”
About
Illusionist Jody Baran
Jody Baran began working as a professional magician at age
15, performing across the country at school assemblies and
amusement parks. After 30 years of entertaining on cruise
ships, Jody is recognized as the Father of Magic in that industry.
Among his accolades are first place awards presented by the
International Brotherhood of Magic and the Symposium of Magic.
Jody is a former "World Champion of Magic" and received
the World Cup of Magic in Tokyo, Japan in 1986. Even more
amazing, the whole Baran family performs in the show: wife,
Kathleen, and their two daughters, Katrina and Crystal!

Kalua Pork Maui Quesadilla – Hawaiian-style smoked pork, with
Shiitake mushrooms, caramelized Maui onions, cream cheese,
spinach and cilantro in a flour tortilla wrap.
Grilled Vegetable Bruschetta – Garlic-grilled flat bread with
sauteed Shiitake mushrooms, roasted red peppers, spinach,
eggplant and tomatoes bruschetta. Served with a roasted red
pepper coulis and balsamic vinaigrette.

Seared Fresh Island Fish – Seasoned red snapper seared to
perfection topped with a sweet chili black bean sauce &
vegetables over steamed white rice.
Grilled Marinated Chicken & Shrimp – Breast of chicken
in a seasoned soy & garlic marinade, and garlic shrimp
served with caramelized pineapples and steamed white rice.
Tenderloin Steak & Shrimp – A medallion of beef and a
grilled jumbo shrimp topped with a lemon-garlic sauce and
garlic smashed potatoes.
Vegetarian: Marinated Tofu & Roasted Vegetables – Grilled
tofu, sweet potato & taro with sauteed mushrooms, spinach
& sweet corn over seasoned roasted eggplant.
