this intriguing underwater world within easy reach of Maui's
visitors and residents. Visitors to the Maui Ocean Center enjoy
a combination of indoor and outdoor displays with emphasis on
exploring and discovering the ocean and its complexity.
The
Maui Ocean Center integrates the
intricacies of marine life with the gentle balance of the ocean
and features the special flavor of the Hawaiian culture and its
age-old link to the sea.
Come along on a discovery journey - an experiential adventure
in which you descend from black lava shorelines and white sandy
beaches, underwater past colorful corals and unique fish, through
lava tubes and sea caves, and deep into the open ocean.
The Maui Ocean Center is located at Ma'alaea Harbor Village overlooking
Ma'alaea Small Boat Harbor on the southwest shore of Maui. The

Experience Dozens of innovative exhibits and habitat
galleries welcome you in Hawaii's underwater world.
Meet eye-to-eye curious garden eels, unusual frog fish and the
shy octopus. Marvel as a giant stingray glides by, or feel the
smooth spines of a bright orange slate pencil urchin in the Touch
Pool.
The Whale Discovery Center pays tribute to the wonder, majesty
and mystery of the
humpback whale - Hawaii's State Marine Mammal. From the depths
of the ocean, you follow a pod of humpback whales halfway around
the world as they mate, feed and migrate across the vast Pacific.
Descend into the deep blue and gain a spectacular glimpse of the
open ocean. Translucent and delicate jellyfish dance in front
of you. Awesome sharks, and colorful schools of jack and spotted
eagle rays pass above and below as you stroll through an acrylic
tunnel right through the middle of an enormous 750,000 gallon
tank.
You don't go hungry at Maui Ocean Center - Enjoy the best in Pacific
Rim cuisine with spectacular ocean views in the Seascape Ma'alaea
Restaurant. For a light lunch, ice cream or refreshing drink,
stop at the Reef Cafe. To make your visit complete, you can take
home a treasured souvenir from Maui Ocean Center Store featuring
exclusive ocean related jewelry, art, crafts, clothing and books
that make this one of Maui's most exciting shopping destinations. |
